Multiple title tags
Low priorityOn-page SEO
The page has more than one <title> element, so search engines have to guess which one to use.
What triggers this issue
- Page has 2 or more title tags in the HTML.
Why it matters
A page can only have one title. When there are several, Google usually takes the first, which may be a generic one added by a theme or plugin rather than the one you wrote.
It is almost always a sign that two systems (a theme and an SEO plugin, or a layout and a page component) are both writing head tags.
How to fix it
- View the page source and search for
<titleto see where each one comes from. - Turn off title output in either the theme or the SEO plugin, not both.
- In frameworks, make sure only one layout or head manager sets the title.
