Thin content (low word count)
High priorityContent
The page has under 300 words of visible text, giving search engines little to understand or rank.
What triggers this issue
- Very little text: under 100 words.
- Thin content: 100–299 words.
Why it matters
There is no magic word count, but a page with a few dozen words rarely ranks for anything competitive. Search engines need context to match the page to searches, and visitors need enough information to act.
Pages that rely on images or videos for their content often look thin to crawlers, which can’t read text inside images.
How to fix it
- Answer the questions people searching for this topic have: who it’s for, how it works, prices, examples, FAQs.
- Look at what the top-ranking pages cover and do it better.
- Merge several thin pages on the same topic into one strong page and redirect the others.
- For pages that don’t need to rank (thank-you pages, tag archives), consider
noindex.
