Structured data missing required fields

Medium priorityOn-page SEO

Structured data on the page lacks properties Google needs for rich results, like a Product without offers or reviews.

What triggers this issue

  • Product without offers, review or aggregateRating.
  • Article, NewsArticle or BlogPosting without headline, image, datePublished or author.
  • Organization without name or url; LocalBusiness without address.
  • Event, Recipe, JobPosting, VideoObject, FAQPage or BreadcrumbList missing its key properties.

Why it matters

Google only shows a rich result when the properties it requires are present. A Product with a name but no price or rating is valid schema.org, but earns nothing in search.

Search Console reports these as errors or warnings in its Enhancements reports.

How to fix it

  1. Add the missing properties listed in your report, using real values from the page.
  2. Confirm with Google’s Rich Results Test.
  3. Never mark up content that isn’t visible on the page, such as reviews you don’t display.
